In case y'all are looking for something to do tomorrow, the folks from both of these organizations are class acts. Head to the game, eat some food, have a little fun, support a good cause.
Minneapolis ACF chefs cook at Twins game to benefit the homeless
MINNEAPOLIS—People Serving People, one of Minnesota’s largest homeless shelters, and the American Culinary Federation’s Minneapolis Chapter will join forces for the fourth year in a row on Friday, August 14, before the Twins take on the Cleveland Indians, to “Strike Out Homelessness.”
The professional chefs of the ACF chapter will again man the barbecues at the Metrodome Picnic Pavilion for the pre-game event to generate support for People Serving People (PSP). The pre-game party from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (near Gate D) will feature live music by Jeremy Messersmith and Ben Connelly; a raffle of Twins memorabilia; Twins player appearances and—of course—a great barbecue from the ACF professional chefs.
All proceeds from this event will benefit homeless children and families. Two-thirds of the residents receiving services at PSP are children, with an average age of seven years old. The money raised from the event will help PSP with childcare, health care, job training and counseling needs.
The mission of PSP is to provide a safe, sober and secure environment for homeless families while promoting self-sufficiency. This mission is achieved through community monetary donations, volunteer hours and fundraisers.
Tickets for the pre-game barbecue are $25 for children aged 12 and under, $30 for adults. Price includes the barbecue and section 226-227 game tickets. For more information about the Home Game to End Homelessness or to order tickets, visit www.peopleservingpeople.org/ or contact Amy Jenkins at ajenkins@peopleservingpeople.org or call 612-277-0246.
I thought PSP stands for Play Station Portable, I didn't know it has much better meaning.. (People Serving People)
